And Off to Thailand it is …

For the next 2 weeks, you won’t be hearing anything QA, SEO or Business related from me.

I’m off to Thailand with my hubby (leaving the kids behind – yeah !!) for a fortnight, assuming that there isn’t another strike at Ben Gurion airport as there was last night ….

So, if anyone is interested in reading my Thailand vacation blog, you can find it at http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Thailand/blog-345368.html

Debi’Z Blog may be hosting a couple of guest posts while I’m away (I can’t really disconnect entirely, can I?), so don’t be surprised if something turns up. And please be polite to my guests 🙂

All the best,

Every Now and Again …

The holidays (Jewish High Holydays) are over, and it’s back to the grindstone.

My excuses for a lack of blog posts (guests, cooking, more guests, more cooking, still more guests, even more cooking, almost ad nauseum – the cooking that is, not the guests of course) are all used up, and I need to think of some more posts that I will enjoy writing, you will enjoy reading, and won’t take up half a day to write.

Every now and then, I come across someone who is writing something really original, and I’d like to share my latest find with you all. It has nothing to do with QA, SEO, Business or Work, but everything to do with Life in General.

If you are into photography, as some of you know that I am, I think you’ll doubly appreciate “STILL LIFE IN MOVING VEHICLE, Bangkok from the passenger seat“.

That’s it for tonight. Hope you enjoyed something off-topic for a change 🙂

Thank You All for Thinking I was on Holiday…

I love August.

It means that if I get writers’ block on my blog, you all assume that I’m on holiday …

Well, don’t laugh.

I can’t go on holiday.

Or rather, we (hubby and kids) can’t go on holiday.

For 1, we’re rennovating our flat. You don’t go away in the middle of choosing taps, toilets, and wallpaper, especially if hubby is an Interior Designer.

For 2, when our movers packed our stuff, we forgot to take our passports out …

Since I was flying to Sophia for SEETest 2008 the day after we moved out, I actually DO have my passport in my bag.

But I think that if I went away on my own, I might not get a set of new keys to the flat when I get back 😦

So, enjoy the rest of August, my friends, and I’ll get back to you when my writers’ block goes away…

And thanks to Tzvi (you know who you are) for being the inspiration behind this post.

20 Things to do When Your ADSL Dies

You may have noticed that my declaration of the Winner of my Free SEO Give-Away competition came out a day late.

You may not have noticed.

But I did.

Why was it late? My ADSL decided to die. Or maybe it just went on strike, overheated (it was 30-something in the shade in Jerusalem yesterday), decided it needed a rest – your guess is as good as mine.

Whatever the case, here I was, on a Monday afternoon, fighting with random.org. No random, no winner …

After a couple of hours, I decided to call it a day.

And there I was, looking at my 4 walls, wondering what to do. “Go outside and enjoy the fresh air” some of you are saying. “Go have a nap” are some others (those of you know know that my best work is done at 3am!).

What was I thinking? “Cool subject for a Blog post” !!!!

So here it is: 20 (enjoyable)  things to do when your ADSL dies:

  1. Go outside and take a breath of fresh air (as long as it isn’t 30-something or more outside …)
  2. Take the kids to the park (as long as it isn’t 30-something …)
  3. Sit on the balcony with a fresh brewed coffed, topped with whipped cream
  4. Read a book
  5. Read the newspaper
  6. Watch some TV on a TV screen (not on your computer screen)
  7. Have a nap
  8. Have a haircut
  9. Have your legs waxed (gents – you might want to think of your own one here)
  10. Treat yourself to a massage
  11. Go the beach
  12. Go to the pool, if, like me, no-one has yet worked out how to bring a beach to Jerusalem
  13. Meet a friend for afternoon tea in your favourite tea-house, cafe, whatever
  14. Meet your significant other for afternoon tea in your favourite tea-house, cafe, whatever
  15. Call your mother
  16. Call your mother-in-law (I know I said enjoyable, but she’s really OK 🙂 )
  17. Try to beat your kids’ Bubbles score
  18. Go for a drive with your favourite radio station blaring, and the windows open
  19. Water the plants (especially if it’s 30-something outside…)
  20. Start planning your next vacation (Thailand, anyone?)

Blast, that blinking ADSL came back on, as I finished making thist list. Maybe one day I’ll just turn it off??

Have a fun day everyone

Debi
